Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum based on experience

About the role
We’re looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Bristol to help with the design, deployment, configuration, maintenance and support of cloud services for our internal business critical systems/services and client facing production solutions for clients such as the Royal Navy, Honda, Orange, and many other leading global brands.
This is a great opportunity for someone to use their experience to help shape, design and lead the implementation of several key initiatives, aimed at accelerating the modernisation our internal systems in-line with a cloud-first approach. Supporting the business to transition to a more flexible, scalable approach that supports a distributed workforce and hybrid working model.
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, excited by the prospect of learning new technologies and has plenty of Microsoft 365 & Azure experience working with enterprise-level software and smaller-scale solutions alike.
Responsibilities
Day to day, we’d expect you to be carrying out the below activities as part of your job:
- Supporting the Head of IT in driving transformation within the business
- Act as a technical lead on infrastructure projects
- Mentoring, supporting and upskilling junior members of the team, as well as the wider engineering team and agency (where appropriate)
- Contributing to improving quality and ways of working in the engineering team
- Building out our capabilities within the internet IT infrastructure with the use of cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
- Supporting the transition from traditional infrastructure management into a modern, cloud-based approach.
- Designing of secure, scalable high available hosting infrastructure architecture solutions for clients
- Supporting technical discovery for initiatives to improve our IT systems and security posture
- Keeping up to date hosting requirements for key supported platforms (e.g. Sitecore & Umbraco)
- Keeping up to date with cloud technology (primarily Azure, AWS) and the architectural possibilities with those platforms
- Supporting the ongoing development of our managed services offering.
- Supporting the wider business in maintaining our security compliance e.g. ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials (Plus)
- Ensuring backup and recovery infrastructure is improved, maintained, and tested.
- Provide 3rd line support via Service Desk
Requirements
We need you to have:
- Strong IT background around support and system administration
- Strong infrastructure capabilities
- Strong experience of supporting Azure Cloud services (IaaS, PaaS)
- Identity & access management experience (Azure AD, AD DS, Azure AD DS, SSO)
- Strong experience of supporting on-prem and cloud services
- Strong experience in Microsoft 365 cloud services
- Device management experience (Jamf and Intune)
- Excellent experience of Windows Server, IIS, SQL Server, Active Directory
- Good experience of IP networks across firewalls, routing & switching, VLANS and VPNs and remote access
- Experience of supporting or both Windows and Mac based estates
- A strong understanding of working with best practices in Cyber Security
Bonus points if you also have specific experience with:
- PowerShell and scripting experience
- AWS, GCP experience
- IaC experience (Bicep, ARM, Terraform, Ansible etc.)
- Virtualisation/Virtual Desktop experience
- Good general knowledge in Linux systems
- ITIL framework experience
- Azure/AWS certifications
- DevOps practices
