Salary: CompetitiveLocation: London

Great State has been innovating digital experiences since 1997. We believe in the awesome power of technology to do great things for our clients and the wider world.

We're a team of 80 digital experts across studios in Bristol and London. We’re a truly collaborative agency with a diverse team of strategists, creatives and technologists constantly inventing and re-inventing.

Our size and independence offer you the best of both worlds – we're big enough that you’ll get to work with significant clients on challenging problems, but small enough that everyone has a powerful and important voice.

This role is based in our East London office, leading a newly formed multi-disciplined delivery team where you will be ultimately responsible for all delivery. We are looking for a natural leader to work with this team, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of projects and products using appropriate methodologies, learning and iterating frequently.

Your initial focus is on the team and processes; coaching teams through challenges and actively trying to identify areas of improvement and methods to be more efficient. Your second focus ensures the team’s outputs are built to an appropriate level of quality, delivered to agreed timescales and meet commercial objectives.

Within the role you will:

  • Facilitate the planning and delivery of work through the team.

  • Develop and evolve technical processes.

  • Ensure current industry standard working practices are adopted and evolved.

  • Actively encourage teamworking, awareness and communication as well as personal ownership, responsibility and entrepreneurship.

  • Troubleshoot and make delivery course corrections.

  • Be a key contact for clients.

  • Manage project delivery directly.

Skills required for the role are:

  • Experience in coaching techniques for individuals and teams.

  • Experience of application release planning and management.

  • Solid understanding of software development best practice(s).

  • Proven track record delivering to different project management methods (agile and waterfall).

  • Azure DevOps (previously VSTS) expertise or similar.

  • Understanding the Agile Business Framework and the various Agile practices to enable delivery at pace for a project.

  • Scrum Master qualification is preferred.

  • Experience of working with remote development teams.

Most importantly we are looking for someone who is:

  • Natural leader, coach and facilitator who can encourage the team members to be the best they can be.

  • Calm under pressure, fair and objective.

  • Problem-solving, analytical and commercially aware.

  • Curious with a massive passion for digital and the application of technology.

In return we offer a fabulous working environment based on Old Street roundabout, excellent benefits, the chance to work on exciting projects, a place to learn constantly and make great friends.
