The British Army
army.mod.uk: bringing the service’s public face up to date online.
What the Army wanted
The Army’s main public-facing website, army.mod.uk, was showing its age. The Army wanted it bringing up to date so it would be more structured, easier to use, and with a new look.
What we did
army.mod.uk is intended to articulate the structure, purpose and objectives of the British Army to a diverse set of audiences. These include journalists, students, politicians, veterans and military enthusiasts. The redesign needed a strong focus on news and events, in order to engage all these groups – and the general public – and help them understand more about “your Army”.
The new site was built to Government Data Services (GDS) standards, following a user-centred approach.
The outcome
The new-look army.mod.uk is more visually appealing than its predecessor and delivers a better experience for users. It also achieved a significant piece of digital housekeeping. By introducing local regimental sections, the Army was able to rationalise its previously fragmented online presence, replacing over 100 separate websites with just one.
